How to Enable WhatsApp Two-Step Verification to Avoid Scammers
Enable Two-Step Verification on WhatsApp to Protect Yourself from Scammers
Keeping your WhatsApp account safe from scammers is becoming increasingly important. One of the most effective ways to secure your account is by turning on Two-Step Verification. This security feature adds an extra layer of protection by asking for a 6-digit PIN whenever someone tries to register your WhatsApp number on a new device. So even if a scammer manages to get your SIM or tricks you into sharing an OTP, they still won’t be able to access your account without this PIN.

How to Enable Two-Step Verification on WhatsApp
Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Open WhatsApp Settings
- Open WhatsApp on your phone.
- Tap the three dots (menu) in the top-right corner (Android) or go to the Settings tab (iPhone).
- Select “Account”.
Step 2: Turn On Two-Step Verification
- Tap “Two-step verification”.
- Click “Enable”.
- Set a six-digit PIN that only you know.
- Add a recovery email address so you can reset your PIN if you forget it.

How This Feature Protects You from Scammers
- Stops unauthorized logins: Even if someone gets your OTP, they cannot log into your WhatsApp without your PIN.
- Protects against SIM-swap fraud: If your SIM is stolen or duplicated, your account remains safe.
- Secures your personal data: Scammers won’t be able to read your chats, access your contacts, or impersonate you.
